We are thrilled that we are now supported by Arts Council England for Well Lit a duo choreographed and performed by me and  Daniel Persson. This piece has been seeding for some time  and we now are going all guns blazing this summer, with three weeks in Lund, Sweden and 2 weeks in London as part of the Choreodrome residency at The Place.  Daniel and I are very excited that Well Lit is getting a chance to stretch its legs and with a wo...

Three years ago, Xuzhi Chen or Daniel (the head designer for XU ZHI) came up to me in the Barbican Gallery in London, being interested in my look and we got talking.  We finally  got to work together on XU ZHI Autumn/Winter collection London 2019. Director Tong Zhao and choreographer Anna Herrmann (with me as assistant ) put on  a beautiful and fragile performance capturing the everyday -  getting caught in the rain and waiting in line for a cu...

A couple of weeks ago I was back working with Tilted Productions and discovering the new direction Marisa's work is taking.  I loved being reunited with my old Tilted family as if nothing had changed. Here is Elise as always battling with the cardboard, this time on a windy Normandy beach. Can't wait to share further news of this project which is, for now, top secret.

I have been working with Kasia Witek this past January and in February we had our first  performance showing at Siobhan Davies Studio followed by feedback from the audience members which took us into some fascinating places.  It has been such a pleasure working with Kasia who has been sharing with us her knowledge of Debora Hay practice to tackle the giant themes of ways of seeing, and the environment and how we relate to it. With...

For the past three years I have been rolling around in a box-working with Tilted Productions has been a brilliant adventure into the unknown. Who knew cardboard and vinyl records could generate so much material?  Maresa von Stockert, the artistic director of Tilted Productions and the choreographer of our new piece Constructions of Thin Air. has the same enthusiasm and excitement for these materials as she has on the first day that I start...

This February Daniel Jeremiah Persson and I premiered our piece Well Lit at The Place as part of Resolution18.  We shared the night with two other performers/makers Shannelle Fergus and Lanre Malaolu, a great bit of programming from The Place as all three pieces took a political and self reflective stance.  Shannelle's moving piece performed to the voice of her mother talking about the gentrification of Brixton and Lanre,  through brilliant phy...

In April next year I will be teaching on a week long contemporary dance workshop in the truly magical village in the  Couserans Pyrénées.  The course is designed to give everyone space and time to reflect and share ideas in the beautiful mountains. I will be teaching alongside three inspiring teachers with a great deal of professional experience; Lewis Wilkins, Matt Cleary and Joelle Green. Places are limited to just 16 dancers so the experienc...

Heading to Malmo next week to meet my dear friend and artistic counterpoint Daniel Persson to start research and rehearsals for Well Lit, in which we will be playing with and creating a collage of music, images and theatre which will investigate our relationship to performance and to each other.

So much looking forward to spending time in Malmo, a city I have never visited before,  and I am feeling the usual apprehension at spending time in Swed...

We spent last week back in the studio at The Place as part of Choreodrome17, revisiting and investigating my piece Binary.  With still a week of research and development left to go, I feel very happy about how it is going and also very happy to be able to work with the wonderful Bradley Smail, Daniel Persson, Elisa Vassena, Georgia Redgrave and Laura Lorenzi.    Binary is also benefiting from some exciting new and / or reappearing collaborators...
