Well Lit is an investigation which taps into the discourse and performance of gender to subvert and blur the boundaries between our off and on stage selves. Anders Duckworth and Daniel Persson who share a complicated relationship with their Swedish nationality (Anders being British/Swedish but brought up in the UK and Daniel being Swedish with Korean heritage) invite you into their wardrobe of doubt, throwing the spotlight onto their experiences of the sometimes baffling way that identity is formed. Duckworth & Persson explore how fashion, media and social politics create the dictionary for demarcating our identities and how the commodification of gender sits with individual experience. A collage of music and image, influenced by cabaret and popular culture Well Lit investigates the politics of performance and the body. In a shifting dialogue that subverts expectations. Looking at the way that our culture imposes assumed behaviours. Duckworth & Persson turn lighting a show into a dark comedic piece of dance and theatre.  A work in progress was shown at The Place London in February 2018 and in Malmo, Sweden in June 2018. We recently received Arts Council England funding which has allowed us to spend Spring and Summer 2019 at residencies in Lund (Sweden) and Choreodrome at The Place (London) developing the piece and creating a full length work.  We hope to tour Well Lit in the UK, Sweden and beyond in 2020.
