Absent Impressions investigates the materiality of celluloid in a contemporary dance piece where performers interact with and manipulate Super 8 projection. Made with plastic and crushed animal, celluloid is an organic material that, like the body, will age, degrade and blemish. Working with residual media artist Rowan De Freitas we created a film in which the body reacts as if disturbed by the camera and moves as if mimicking the projectors mechanisms, making lines sometimes blurred between body and film, live and recorded action.   First shown at Touch Wood at The Place 4th September 2015.
