An ongoing research project dealing with issues of gender, borders and boundaries and the geography of urban spaces. Map Lines comprises a dance piece with projection, a film and an illustrated essay.

MAP LINES: ILLUSTRATED ESSAY
This essay interrogates questions such as how and why gender categories are enforced, why is something considered to be a subversive act? At what point does clothing become gendered? My research focuses on the border zones, the place in between the borders, articulating these ideas in the context of space and spatial relations. The text takes the form of an illustrated essay which also draws upon personal artistic practice, which appears in the installation.

MAP LINES: INSTALLATION
This was an installation which featured both live work, film and interactive artifacts.

MAP LINES: FILM
Is a film of the dance piece Map Lines made in collaboration with the filmmaker Jack Exton. Shot in the studio this film creates a stark and dimly lit space which the performers sprint through flashing in front of our eyes. The movement of projeced light and dancers sends the space spinning on a upwards spiral.

MAP LINES: DUET
First performed in 2012, this piece works with digital projection as a means of carving up space. The dancers run through blocks of light, trying to make sense of their futile tasks.
